FollowWise Privacy Policy

When you start a scan or import your Instagram data export, FollowWise handles Instagram usernames, profile names or identifiers included in the lists, and the relationships represented by the Followers and Following lists. It may also keep scan timestamps and locally derived events such as new followers, new follows, and accounts that no longer appear among your followers.

FollowWise does not request or store your Instagram password or session cookie. When you start a scan, the packaged scanner reads Instagram’s CSRF token from the csrftoken cookie on the Instagram page and sends that token only in HTTPS requests back to Instagram, together with the active browser session, to retrieve the lists you requested. FollowWise does not save the token or send it to the developer. The extension does not collect browsing activity outside Instagram.

The information is used only to show your lists, compare complete scans, identify accounts that do not follow you back, and create exports you request. A scan uses your currently signed-in Instagram browser session to request the lists from Instagram. Instagram may change, restrict, or refuse these requests.

FollowWise stores lists and comparison history in Chrome's local extension storage on your device. Imported JSON files are read in the browser. FollowWise does not send this information to a FollowWise server, analytics provider, or advertising service, and does not sell or share it with the developer or other third parties. When you export a file, that file is saved through your browser at your request.

Recent activity records are kept locally for up to 30 days. Other saved lists remain in local Chrome extension storage until you clear FollowWise's extension data or remove the extension. You can also replace saved snapshots by importing or scanning a new complete set of lists. Exports are files you control and must be deleted from your device separately.

FollowWise has no developer-operated backend. Data remains within the browser profile's extension storage except for scan requests sent to Instagram and exports that you explicitly create. Keep your browser profile and exported files secure.
